Willem Timmers studied corporate law with a specialization in intellectual property law at Leiden University. After his studies, Willem worked in a large bank/insurer, a niche law firm and a medium-sized law firm, where he was mainly involved in intellectual property law, IT law and privacy issues. In addition to his studies and work, he ran an IT company for over 13 years and therefore has a unique perspective on ICT and privacy-related issues. Willem joined the team of AMS Advocaten in 2021.
At AMS Advocaten, Willem focuses mainly on advising on and litigating intellectual property rights (such as trademark law, copyright law and design law). Willem is also involved in commercial contracts relevant to IT law and privacy issues.
In 2020, Willem completed the postgraduate specialisation course in Intellectual Property Law. This is the most comprehensive and complete postgraduate course in the field of intellectual property law.
Willem is a member of the Copyright Law Association, the Privacy Law Association, the Advertising Law Association and the Young Trial Lawyers Association.
Willem has registered in the Register of Legal Entities of the Netherlands Bar Association with intellectual property law as his main area of expertise. On the basis of this registration, he is required to obtain ten training points each calendar year in this registered main specialist legal field in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
