Hein, as litigator and trusted legal adviser, focuses primarily on insolvency law and debt collection. His expertise ranges from advising and litigating for clients involved in bankruptcies to regularly acting as court-appointed bankruptcy trustee. Hein’s hands-on approach is highly valued, as well as his practical know-how in both Dutch corporate law and Dutch tax law. As a result of his practical approach, proceedings can often be avoided. But if proceedings do become necessary, Hein ensures that he achieves the best possible results for the client.
His expertise also extends to directors and officers liability, security rights, pre-packs, and restarts. Furthermore, Hein often litigates for both companies and individuals in proceedings against financial institutions.
Next to his regular attorney activities, Hein is often appointed as bankruptcy trustee by the District Court of Amsterdam. In that capacity Hein settles numerous bankrupt estates every year.
Hein obtained a master’s degree in both Dutch law and in Dutch tax law from the University of Utrecht. He gained in-depth practical experience as an international tax consultant for several years before joining the Dutch Bar in 2008. And after practicing law with a medium-size law firm in The Hague for five years, Hein joined AMS Advocaten in 2013. In 2017 he successfully completed the postgraduate study ‘Dutch insolvency law’ at the Grotius Academy. Once completed, he will then become a member of INSOLAD, the Dutch association for insolvency law practitioners.
Besides Dutch, Hein is fluent in English.
